A Great Time to Go Green!

Now that it is mid-August, it’s a great time to think green – meaning with a couple months left in the growing season (in zone 4 and 5 anyway), it’s a great time to plant some green vegetables. They tend to prefer a little cooler temperatures anyway than those 100 degree temps we had for most of July. Wouldn’t it be great to walk out to your garden, porch or deck and clip a few greens to throw into a fresh salad for dinner? I will be planting some lettuce and spinach for sure this week. Those especially are great, because you can re-harvest about every two weeks as they continuously grow. Gardens, whether in a pail or in the ground, are a beautiful thing. So get out and grow some greens, breathe in the fresh and cooler air and before you know it, you will be enjoying the fruits of your labor, a fresh garden salad.
