Family Breakfast Makeover – The Family Breakfast Project

Tell me if you can identify with this: My alarm goes off at 6, but that really means I get up at 6:15. I then hear the familiar beeping coming from my son and daughter’s rooms. I wonder why my kids never hear their alarm going off right next to their ears. Run in and shut it off. Tell them it’s time to get up, get dressed, make their bed and meet me in the kitchen in 10 minutes. Well, 20 minutes later, they are at the countertop, starting breakfast, but is it really getting started? Hurry up, it’s time to go. Stop the fighting. Finish your breakfast. Brush your teeth. Get your coat on. Get in the car.

Just typing that sends me into a frenzy. Morning have always been difficult!

Last month I discovered a new partnership between one of my favorite organizations and my favorite cereal since I’ve been one year old.

Hallelujah.

Here’s what I loved about it. It was a 7 day challenge – totally doable. It focused on a problem I had – a crazy morning. It had great ideas that were super simple.

Why wouldn’t I sign up? So, I did. Recipes, (like a super cute owl), simple activities (What I Love About You Placemats) and ways to really connect and focus on what is important. Plus organization!

That’s where the Breakfast Basket comes in.

Whole grains + fruit + protein = a balanced breakfast. Milk is in the frig!

It has helped get my kids right out of bed in the morning and help themselves to breakfast. They look forward too it! It also provided this great connection time in the morning, a great way to start the day.

I would recommend all moms take the challenge of The Family Breakfast Project. Sign up for 7 days to a better family breakfast here: http://thefamilydinnerproject.org/the-family-breakfast-project/

It’s simple and it’s fun and it makes for a better morning.
