Strawberry Banana Smoothie

smoothies in jars

Welcome to day 3 of smoothie week!  Hopefully, you enjoyed the purple power smoothie.  We are venturing on with the rainbow with one of my son’s favorites.  By the way, can’t stress enough to my kids how important it is to eat the rainbow!

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Makes 40 ounces (5 -8 ounce glasses)

What you need:

  • 3 cups frozen strawberries
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 2 (6 ounces each) containers strawberry Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup strawberry banana juice puree (Bolthouse Farms or Naked Juice brands work well)

All it takes:

  1. Add strawberries, bananas, yogurt and juice puree to a blender.  Blend for one minute or until ingredients liquified.

One great reason to use Greek yogurt is that it is twice the protein than regular yogurt.  Why does this matter?  It helps keep you fuller longer.  So when my kids have this smoothie for breakfast before school, I can feel good knowing they won’t end up in the nurse’s office with a tummy ache mid-morning from being hungry.  (It’s happened and my lovely child learned her lesson that day when she didn’t eat enough!)
