It’s time to launch! There was a period of time a couple of years ago where I felt like I was a rocket on the launch pad headed for space, with my engines lit and burning but for some reason, not actually launching off the launch pad. The engines that were burning were all the ideas swirling around in my head about what I really felt I was meant to be doing – helping moms nourish their families. But even though I was on the launch pad, where I was launching to wasn’t ready yet.
Well, today is the day. I am launching my new website with only you in mind, moms. Does this speak to you?
Here are my 5 beliefs:
- More than anything, moms desire healthy families and want to do what’s best for the health of their kids.
- Busy moms need to be nourished too, in order to be successful at nourishing their families.
- Moms want to pass on a positive legacy to their children.
- Just because a mom has a career outside the home, doesn’t mean that the health of the family needs to be sacrificed.
- Moms want to feel confident with their skills in the kitchen.
I am making Mondays into MomDays!
MomDays are days when we as moms commit to doing something to nourish our kids. I always start the week with good intentions and too many times the week has gotten away from me. That’s why Mondays are the best days of the week to make the commitment to a healthy legacy for our kids. As I talked about in my recent TEDx presentation, moms really can change the world starting right in our own kitchens at the kitchen counter in the form of a Kitchen Counter Cooking School. Think of all the little lessons we can teach before our kids leave home and how prepared our kids will be.
So here’s what I want you to do:
Think back to your childhood and what kitchen memory comes to mind? Is it a favorite recipe? Is it cooking something with your mom? Share your favorite memory in the comments.
And do this one thing: Commit today that you will make Mondays MomDays where you will intentionally teach your child something in the kitchen. It doesn’t have to be a four course meal – it is as simple as teaching them how to use a knife or how to crack an egg without the shells falling into the bowl or how a strawberry grows. And check back each Monday MomDay for simple ideas to make your kitchen a nourishing one!
